Applicable to New York:

On November 16, FEMA extended for a month a program providing temporary housing to New Yorkers displaced by Superstorm Sandy.  The agency says the program which provides hotel or motel rooms to FEMA applicants whose homes were damaged by the storm will now extend to Dec. 14.

The agency said it acted on a request by the state of New York.

The numbers to help New Yorkers eligible for transitional sheltering assistance find a hotel are 866-863-8673 or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.

Phone lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.
